Good” Contest
Official Rules
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT
IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS
AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
Eligibility: The
Maxwell House “Brewing Some Good” Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District
of Columbia who are 45 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees
of Kraft Foods Global, Inc., AARP, Inc., the Ogden Group, or any of their
respective divisions, affiliates, subsidiaries, and promotional or marketing
agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with,
any such employees are not eligible. The term “immediate family members”
includes spouses, parents, siblings, and children. The Contest is sponsored by Kraft Foods
Global, Inc. (“Sponsor”) and administered by the Ogden Group and AARP The
Magazine (“Administrators”).
How to Enter: The
Contest begins at 12 a.m. E.T. on March 24, 2008 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. E.T.
on August 31, 2008 (the “Contest Period”). To enter, complete and submit an
online entry form at www.brewingsomegood.com during the
Contest Period. You will be required to provide your name, age, home address,
telephone number, gender, e-mail address, and photo. You must also submit an
essay of one hundred (100) words or less that describes your efforts to create
a positive change in your community and explains why you deserve to win the
Maxwell House “Brewing Something Good” Contest (“Essay”). Essays may not contain material that is
sexually explicit, disparaging, libelous, indecent, obscene, or otherwise
inappropriate, as determined by Sponsor and Administrators in their sole
discretion. The use of automated entries
or programs or entries submitted by third parties is prohibited and such
entries will be disqualified. All
entries will become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be
acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and
Administrators shall have the right to edit, adapt, and publish any or all of
the Contest submissions and may use them in any media without attribution or
compensation to the entrant or any other person or entity.
All entries must be submitted
by 11:59:59 E.T. on Sunday, August 31, 2008 to be eligible. Limit one (1) entry
per person and per e-mail address. Contest is only open to those 45 years of
age and older. Sponsor and
Administrators will not be responsible for incomplete, late, or misdirected
entries or for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or
technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning
of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or
Sponsor. In the event of a dispute, all entries will be deemed to have been
submitted by the name appearing on the entry form. Any questions regarding the number of entries
submitted will be determined by Administrators in their sole discretion, and Administrators
reserve the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be
tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest.
Winner Selection: Eligible entries will be judged under the
supervision of Administrators. On or
about Monday, September 1, 2008, one (1) Grand Prize Winner, one (1) First
Prize Winner and one (1) Second Prize Winner will be selected based on the
following criteria (“Criteria”): (i) fit with theme of promoting positive
community change (60%); (ii) interest to the public (20%); (iii) creativity and
originality (20%).
The decisions of Administrators
are final in all matters relating to the Contest. Potential prize winners are
subject to verification by Sponsors.
Limit one (1) prize per person.
Prizes and Odds:
One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500)
cash. One (1) First Prize Winner will receive one thousand dollars ($1000)
cash. One (1) Second Prize Winner will
receive five hundred dollars ($500) cash.
Grand Prize winner will be featured in a special Maxwell House promotion
advertisement published in the January/February 2009 issue of AARP The
Magazine. First and Second Prize Winners
may also be featured and/or mentioned in the promotion advertisement if space
allows, at the discretion of the Administrators. The promotion advertisement
featuring the winner(s) of the Contest may include a photograph of the
winner(s) (at the discretion of AARP).
There is no retail value associated with appearing in the promotion advertisement
and no additional compensation will be awarded.
Winners
may waive their right to receive a prize. Prizes are non-assignable and
nontransferable. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted, except
that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal
or greater value if advertised prize or any component thereof is not
available. Winners will be notified by
AARP The Magazine by mail on or about September 19, 2008. Winners will be
required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and
Publicity Release within fourteen (14) days of the date on the prize
notification. Sponsor’s inability to reach a winner, the return of any prize
notification as undeliverable and/or a winner’s failure to timely respond to
prize notification, sign and return the required affidavit/release, or comply
with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in
disqualification of winner, forfeiture of his or her interest in all prizes,
and selection of a substitute winner from among all remaining eligible entries,
using the Criteria described above. Winners are solely responsible for
reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes.
Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these
Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of
Sponsor.
General Conditions: Your
entry in this Contest constitutes your consent to be bound by these official
rules, and the decisions of Administrators, which shall be final in all
respects. Selected entries are subject
to verification prior to awarding a prize.
If selected as a winner, you agree to the Sponsor’s use of your name,
likeness, Essay, city and state of residence for advertising and trade purposes
in any media and online without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
Entrants are solely responsible for their own conduct and agree to release and
hold harmless Sponsor, Administrators and their respective parents,
subsidiaries, affiliates, and the directors, officers, employees and agents of
each, from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind
arising from or in connection with the Contest or any prize won. Administrators
reserve the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise
abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Administrators. In
the event the Contest is compromised by a
virus, non-authorized human intervention, tampering or any other cause beyond
the reasonable control of Sponsor or Administrators which corrupts or impairs
the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest,
Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or
terminate the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated
expiration date, Sponsors reserve the right to award prizes based on the
entries received before the termination date. The invalidity or
unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity
or enforceability of any other provision.
In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or
otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with
their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained
therein.
